HHG
Provide a convenient command to manage the collection of publicly
available directory listings and individual files from previously
specified Internet sites for a JANET host which runs hhcp under unix.
The HHG files are unix scripts which are almost ready to use. The
comments included in the scripts are intended to make them largely
self-documenting for those familiar with unix scripts.
Because I am at a JANET site which now has direct Internet connection I
no longer use either script regularly. My recent use is limited to an
April 1992 test collection of directories and files from oak and SIMTEL20
using version 2.1 which was mainly to check that the message formats are
still acceptable to FT-RELAY.
Version 1.0 A basic form of the utility.
===========
Before first use, read the comments at the head of the file, and act on
them. You can add/amend/delete site data, but have to do it in two
different places if the help screen is to be kept in line with the actual
capability of the script:
a) in the list of 'echo' lines just after the comment lines at the
head of the file,
b) in the host and basedirectory lines that follow a little further
down the file.
In both places, names like 'garbou' are just my choice of mnemonic for
particular combinations of ftp-sitename and basedirectory. The layout of
the file is not critical.
Version 2.1 An elaborated version.
===========
This includes guided-installation and once-only entry of information on
ftp-site plus basedirectory combinations, but at the expense of
* greater length,
* the use of several unix utilities that may not be present on your
system,
* critical sensitivity to layout in the data sections.
